Contact Info: hatsandmonocles@hotmail.co.uk is my AIM and my email. As for other contact methods, I'm mostly active on my tumblr but I'm usually on skype as well! My skype name is monocle_claire (cringes) and I'll add anyone from the game who asks :3
Other Characters: None yet!
Name : Black ☆ Rock Shooter. She answers to any derivative of that name and "Stella" as well.
From: The Black ☆ Rock Shooter franchise, mostly based on the OVA and anime continuities (with her name coming from the game version)
Appearance: [ REFERENCE IMAGE ]
Stella is a ghostly white and skinny young woman, with various stitched up scars criss-crossing over her abdomen. She has little in the way of muscles but has no problem with carrying her oversized weapons; she's more than capable of holding her own in a fight. Her eyes are an intense blue, with the right one capable of producing a blue flame, and her hair is black, with a blue sheen and split into uneven twintails. Clothes-wise, Stella wears a black bikini top and a black hooded jacket, decorated with white stars and stripes. She has black shorts, with a white belt and white and black boots.
Her face is rather youthful, though she carries herself with the grace and maturity of a much older woman, which makes her physical age rather hard to place, though she mostly resembles someone in their very late teens or their early twenties.
Age: Unknown, though it can be assumed that she's existed at least as long as her otherself has been alive, putting her anywhere between fourteen to sixteen.
Gender: Female
Personality: Stella initially appears to be very cold and equally as distant. She speaks in short, rather brisk sentences and generally gives the appearance of being unused to interacting with anyone outside of trying to embed swords in faces. Life in the otherworld doesn't have many opportunity for real interaction, so outside of fights to the near-death. She's very much an outsider looking in, learning painfully slowly as to how she's meant to act in social situations.
When it comes to humor, she's totally lost. She understands the idea of it, but the technicalities escape her. She tends to repeat things she's heard make other laugh, but her timing is so terrible that she rarely succeeds. The rare occasions she almost manages to be funny by herself, she often ruins by clarifying that what she said was just a joke. She takes sarcasm and exaggeration at face value as well.
Similarly, Stella is rather childlike in her understanding of lies and deception. Life in the otherworld is very black and while (no pun intended) and as such, doesn't really 'get' why someone would lie or mislead someone. Because of this, she's a bit naieve and can be quite easily mislead herself. She'll believe anything that anyone tells her, without even pausing to consider that it may be a lie.
Stella herself is also extremely blunt. She often says or does things without understanding that they're inappropriate for the situation she's in. Her understanding of social cues is nonexistent and she's learning about them very slowly, though it's a very trial and error at the moment.
Most of her life before coming to the city was dedicated to fighting and being ready to defend herself. As such, Stella is very tense, always ready to fight. She dislikes being touched suddenly, and will often instinctively leap back and strike out at people who startle her by doing so.
Relationship wise, Stella finds it hard to connect to people who aren't Mato. Her entire existence revolves around protecting her, so having to connect and empathize with people who aren't Mato is something very new to Stella. She's loyal to people who are loyal to her, and understands enough about morality to differentiate kindness from cruelty and will mostly side with people who favor the former. Her protective instincts also come out for people who cannot defend themselves, or people who seem most in need.
Backstory: [ BRS ANIME WIKI PAGE ]
There exists a world, separate from our own, populated by beings known as other selves, counterparts to people who live in our own world. They take the physical pain of turmoil from their human selves so they don't suffer the pain of heartbreak, fighting the otherselves of other humans. When an otherself dies in battle (though they are always reborn), their human self forgets the source of their pain, losing all memories of and feelings for the person causing their emotional turmoil.
Stella is the other self of Mato Kuroi, a middle schooler, though she has lived in the otherworld since before Mato was born. She battled the otherselves of many of Mato's friends and eventually went berserk thanks to Mato's confused emotions, and became Insane Black Rock Shooter. She was eventually defeated by the combined efforts of Mato and the otherselves of her friend and reborn again as Black Rock Shooter. After her encounter with Mato, Stella has since begun to develop a personality of her own, rather than remaining the blank slate she had been before.
Moral Standing: Lawful Neutral, with hints of Chaotic Good
Dreams: Being able to interact face-to-face with Mato.
Fears: Mato dying. Losing herself and becoming Insane Black Rock Shooter again.
Extra: Should a Mato ever arrive in Ink City, Stella will immediately assign herself as Mato's protector, should this Mato be aware of who BRS is or not. Similarly, should any of the otherselves or their human counterparts turn up, she will likely be rude at best and openly hostile at worst.
Due to living in a world where fighting is everything, Stella is an insanely skilled fighter (as shown in canon, where she has little trouble taking down the otherselves). For the sake of the game, I've toned down her fighting skills somewhat.
Character Location: The Sky Gate, Stella's section of the otherworld. It is a deep pit, that seems to glow an unnatural blue, with black metallic protrusions sticking out from the floor and walls, with a dark blue and white checkerboard ground.
Samples: [ All Otherworld scenes (BRS OVA) ]
[ BRS vs Chariot (TV Anime) ]
[ BRS vs Dead Master (TV Anime) ]
Writing Sample: Stella doesn't like the city. It's too loud, too chaotic. There are people everywhere, people everywhere she turns, people people people, talking, yelling, laughing, crying -- too many to count, too many to watch any of them for more than a few seconds at a time. Stella is used to quiet and solitude, to few companions and even fewer words. The world she knows is expansive and quiet, cold and airy. The city is hot and claustrophobic, pressing in on all sides and she can find little escape from all the noise, no matter where she goes.
The ocean is the only place that Stella feels anywhere close to safe and content. It's close enough to the Sky Gate that, should she feel too overwhelmed, she can flee back there and steady herself. But it is also cool and airy and the noise of the city doesn't seem to be as loud here. The ocean does not roar, it whispers and the cobalt blue of the waves reminds Stella of the otherworld. The breeze is chilly here and the heat doesn't sting as intensely.
So when the city becomes too enclosing, when she feels as though she cannot breath, Stella goes to the beach. She sits on the hot sand and watches the rolling waves drain away into the glittering nebula beyond.
